E-scooters coming to K-State, Manhattan Aug. 15

Kansas State University and the city of Manhattan have partnered with LINK to launch an e-scooter share program this month as students return for the start of the fall semester.
The program will launch 150 e-scooters on Aug. 15, and depending on the public's response, could expand to up to 500 distributed across K-State's Manhattan campus and the broader community.
At K-State, the LINK e-scooter share program will be managed by Adrienne Tucker, assistant director of Parking Services.
Anyone over the age of 18 will be able to rent dockless e-scooters around the city and on K-State’s Manhattan campus. To use the new e-scooters, download the "LINK — Scooter Sharing" app on your smartphone. It costs $1 to unlock an e-scooter and 25 cents per minute to ride. Follow these tips for a safe ride:
- Wear a helmet.
- One rider per e-scooter.
- Ride in a bike lane when available, not on the sidewalks.
- Always be aware of pedestrians and cars.
- Park mindfully, and when possible, in designated parking areas.
- Have fun.
Riders should also take extra safety precautions to stay safe from COVID-19: Bring disinfecting wipes to clean any high touch surfaces such as the grips, brakes and throttle; wear a face covering when not able to maintain 6-feet physical distance from other persons; and wash hands after riding a shared vehicle.
