K-State Today

November 8, 2012

Thanks to all Kids Voting Kansas volunteers

Submitted by Amanda Meinhardt

The Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy at Kansas State University, in collaboration with Manhattan Konza Rotary, hosted Kids Voting Kansas to give students in USD 383 an authentic voting experience in their schools. Kids Voting educates our youth about voting and excites them about the democratic process. On Election Day 13 schools, 54 volunteers and 3,857 students participated.

The USD 383 results of the Kids Voting presidential election are:

  • Obama: 2,166
  • Romney: 1,521
  • Johnson: 105
  • Baldwin: 91

Thanks to all the K-State students and members of the Manhattan Area Retired Educators Association and the Manhattan Riley County League of Women Voters who volunteered for this event.
