Thompson publishes contextual study of teacher performance assessment
Dorothy Musselwhite Thompson, assistant director of assessment, has published an article, "Evaluating the Psychometric Qualities of the edTPA in the Context of Pre-service Music Teachers," in the journal Research Studies in Music Education.
The edTPA is a widely implemented performance assessment in the United States used to indicate both the readiness of preservice teachers to enter the classroom and the level of preservice teacher preparation supported by individual colleges of education. This study investigates reliability, validity, and fairness in the context of pre-service music education candidates. The study also presents a discussion of the implications of the assessment for pre-service music education training.
