Gayla Randel, instructor in family and consumer sciences, has been selected for a national honorary membership from Phi Upsilon Omicron, the National Honor Society in Family and Consumer Sciences.

National Phi Upsilon Omicron honorary membership is bestowed upon a person who has made outstanding contributions to the family and consumer sciences profession on the national level and who possesses the scholarship, leadership and service qualities associated with Phi U membership.

"Gayla exemplifies the criteria for this award through her leadership, service, and commitment to advancing the field of family and consumer sciences," said Michelle Toews, associate dean and Phi Upsilon Omicron past president. "As one of her references noted: 'Through leadership and action, Ms. Randel has demonstrated her belief in the importance of improving the quality of life of individuals, families and the communities in which they live.' We are fortunate to have Gayla as part of our faculty."

Randel will be honored at the 2020 Biennial Conclave meeting in Columbus, Ohio, where she also will serve as a keynote speaker during the event.
