Summer teaching opportunities at Jilin University
The Confucius Institute is working with Jilin University, K-State's Chinese partner, to sponsor five K-State faculty members to teach short summer courses at Jilin, May 13-30. Any undergraduate course in science, social science or humanities is welcome, and the target population will be sophomores and juniors at Jilin University.
Jilin will cover all expenses for each participant, including round-trip economy class airfare room and board in China, in addition to a stipend of $1,200. The teaching load is a 90-minute class — usually divided into two 45-minute sessions with a 10-minute break in between — twice per week in the three-week period. Jilin University can provide teaching assistants and lab facilities if needed. There also will be opportunities for participants to give research presentations in their areas of expertise and interact with their peers at Jilin University for potential collaboration.
Anyone interested please send a brief course proposal/syllabus and your CV to confucius@k-state.edu by Feb. 25. The Confucius Institute will forward the material to Jilin University and the decision to accept or not accept a course will be made by Jilin University. The Confucius Institute will provide assistance, such as visa application, etc.
K-State participated in Jilin's program last year for the first time. This is part of the Confucius Institute's effort to promote exchange and collaboration between K-State and Jilin. Located in Changchun in northeast China, Jilin is one of the major comprehensive universities in the country with degree programs in virtually all the areas K-State has. In 2015, K-State established its Confucius Institute in partnership with Jilin.
