Kate Digby to give artist's talk at the Beach Museum of Art

Submitted by Blakely Bunning

Kate Digby, assistant professor of dance in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, will share her work on an immersive performance installation, "Search for Simurgh." The event premieres at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in the UMB Theater at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. Admission is free.

The work draws on the writing and photography of artist Roya Movafegh, who escaped Iran during the revolution and settled in Canada before moving to the United States. This event is part of the "Silk Road through Kansas" program series.

Digby will share about the development of the work, the biosensing technology being used to enhance the connection between audience and performer, and will be joined by students from the K-State Dance program.

Faculty in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance have received Grammy awards and nominations, and Emmy awards; produced recordings on international and national CD labels; published books and journal articles with international and national publishing houses and professional organizations; and performed and presented research in every continent in the world, except Antarctica. The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is a part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Visit k-state.edu./mtd to learn more about music, theatre and dance at K-State.
