Kansas Board of Regents June 20 meeting university updates

The monthly Kansas Board of Regents meeting on June 20 included several items related to Kansas State University.
Introduction and reports
Provost and Senior Vice President April Mason updated the Board on the May 22 fire at Hale Library. Mason also talked about the status of the new university provost.
Academic affairs
The Regents approved K-State's request to add a Master of Science in data analytics in fall 2018. The degree will combine courses from various disciplines that cover data science and applied analytics.
Fiscal affairs
K-State received approval to amend the capital improvement plan to repair and reconstruct the airport parking apron on the Polytechnic campus. The total project cost is estimated at $1.8 million and will be funded from grants provided by the Kansas Department of Transportation's Division of Aviation. Kansas State Polytechnic also will provide matching funds of five percent related to design and 10 percent related to construction.
The Regents approved K-State's tuition and fee proposal for fiscal year 2019. The K-State Manhattan and Olathe campuses will increase tuition 1.1 percent while the Polytechnic campus and College of Veterinary Medicine maintain flat tuition.
The Regents approved the fiscal year 2020 capital improvement requests and five-year plans.
The K-State Fraternal Order of Police new memorandum of agreement was approved and executed by the Board.
