Legislative update

Submitted by Sue Peterson

This week is the final week of committee meetings in the Kansas Legislature. Both the House Appropriations Committee and the Senate Ways and Means Committee will work on sending their budget bills out of committee.

On March 16, the Legislature received the K-12 school finance report commissioned by the Legislature to examine funding for schools in Kansas. View a PDF list of bills pertaining to higher education and K-State.

The Kansas Legislative Session's first adjournment will be Friday, April 6. The veto session will convene on Thursday, April 26. The 90th day is Friday, May 4. Please see the weekly updates every Tuesday in K-State Today through the 90th day or final adjournment.

The Office of Governmental Relations also will host a Kansas Legislative Review Session from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the K-State Student Union's Bluemont Room. This session is open to all faculty, staff and students; feel free to bring a brown-bag lunch.
