Temporary closure of area east of Dykstra Hall complex

Submitted by Jack Carlson

Beginning Monday, March 26, a portion of the east Dykstra Hall complex will be closed. Contractors will be installing new electrical components to Dykstra as part of the campus infrastructure electrical upgrade improvements.

Contractors will fence off the construction area and will provide access through the construction area with steel plating over the trench. This steel plate access is for Facilities' use only.

All deliveries to Dykstra storeroom services are to be routed via the driveway west of Dykstra Hall.

See the plans for the location of work and closures.

The area is expected to reopen for normal traffic Friday, April 20.

The construction is part of the Division of Facilities' campus infrastructure improvements. These improvements are planned to replace K-State's aging electrical power grid and outdated electrical equipment installed in the 1950s and 1960s. This new electrical system will be a more reliable electrical power source for campus buildings. Overall this infrastructure work will take approximately two years to complete and will impact 18 buildings.
