Office of International Programs is accepting nominations for 2017 International Educator of the Year award

Submitted by Mary K. Pyle

It's not too late! The Office of International Programs is accepting nominations for the 2017 International Educator of the Year award. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.

The award recognizes an individual who is making significant contributions to advancing international education at K-State. Faculty, staff, administrators or other members of the K-State community may be honored for major contributions and sustained commitment to internationalizing the university.

"The international educator of the year award is an exciting celebration for our K-State community," said Marcellus Caldas, assistant provost for international faculty collaborations and educational programs. "It represents 17 years of faculty and staff commitment to highlight those individuals who are elevating international awareness and global education and exchange."

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of K-State's efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.

The International Educator of the Year award reception is a big part of K-State's International Education Week, which will be celebrated with events Nov. 9-17. The International Educator of the Year awardee will be presented with a $1,000 award — and a plaque — at the International Educator of the Year award reception from 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in the Hemisphere Room at Hale Library.

For questions about the award nomination process, contact Caldas at caldasma@k-state.edu.
