State budget update

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

On June 25, Gov. Sam Brownback signed a $15.6 billion state budget for the next two years. The budget funds the university and restores $1.1 million in fiscal year 2018 and $2.2 million in fiscal year 2019. Also included in the bill are provisions for some state employee pay raises. The university is now awaiting implementation guidance from the state finance council, which is scheduled to meet on June 30. Once the university receives the guidance, it will be communicated to employees as soon as possible.
