Internal search for interim associate provost for diversity

Submitted by Craig Bourne

The Office of the Provost announces an internal search for the interim associate provost for diversity. The interim associate provost will lead and coordinate strategic relationships and initiatives that advance the university's goals for multicultural diversity.

The interim associate provost will serve as a university advocate promoting enhanced racial and cultural diversity and an inclusive campus climate that fosters academic excellence and understanding among diverse groups.  He/she will lead, develop and coordinate student success and advising programs for multicultural students that promote retention, graduation rates and academic excellence. The interim associate provost also will direct the operations of the Office of Diversity.

The interim associate provost will report to the provost and senior vice president and serve as a member of the Provost's Executive Team and the President's Advisory Council.

The interim associate provost for diversity search committee invites letters of nomination or applications — letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and contact information from at least three references — to be submitted as soon as possible. This position is open to current employees of Kansas State University. The application deadline is Nov. 30 with interviews to take place in December prior to winter break.

It is expected that the successful candidate will begin the position on Jan. 3, 2016. Application for the position of or appointment as interim associate provost for diversity will not preclude an individual from consideration for the permanent position. A national search will be undertaken in the spring of 2016.

The full position description, including required qualifications, may be found on K-State's job opportunities website or on the provost's website.

Questions about the search should be directed to the committee chair, Lori Goetsch, Dean, K-State Libraries, 785-532-7492, lgoetsch@ksu.edu. Nominations and applications should be directed to Craig Bourne, Office of the Provost, 785-532-6224, cbourne@k-state.edu
