Survey ranks K-State No. 2 among the top universities to work for in 2015

Submitted by Human Capital Services

According to rankings released by Glassdoor.com and reported by Forbes magazine, Kansas State University ranks second in the nation when it comes to the top universities to work for in 2015. The survey is based on employee feedback gathered at the jobs and recruiting website, which evaluates these employee reviews on a five-point scale. K-State was topped only by Brigham Young University in the rankings, with MIT, Carnegie Mellon University and Brown University rounding out the top five.

Dynamic working environments and opportunities to continue learning and interact with students were factors that the universities ranking highest in the survey — including K-State — shared.

"We are very humbled by the recognition and appreciate every employee at the university who contributes to our positive and engaging work environment, which is why Kansas State University ranks so highly," said Cheryl Johnson, the university's vice president for human capital services. "We appreciate the people of K-State who create a work environment that embraces an engaging, diverse and inclusive workplace."

Benefits offered by the university, including health and dental insurance, generous vacation leave, tuition assistance, retirement plans and more, plus discounts on university entertainment and sporting activities, enhance Kansas State University's reputation as a great place to work, Johnson said. The university's community locations — Manhattan, Salina and Olathe — also all offer amenities that are attractive to workers and their families, she said.

K-State is already hard at work to improve its ranking as a great place to work.

"We are on a significant journey to continuously improve the work environment so that we maximize each person's potential to fully contribute to K-State and its mission of becoming one of the top research institutions by 2025," Johnson said. "Human Capital Services' commitment to improve the hiring process, develop holistic solutions for our Re-Discover Total rewards campaign and implement wellness programs to support the overall well-being for the K-State community are a few steps toward this journey and we are excited about our future."
