Faculty, staff participants needed for survey about being a first-generation student

Submitted by Jana Fallin

The Teaching and Learning Center is interested in knowing how K-State first-generation faculty and staff made it through their college years to graduation. We have designed a survey to gather this information. Questions are about motivation, struggles faced and other topics of interest. The survey will be anonymous unless you want to share specifics.

The survey is open to faculty, staff and graduate students. Please let us know if you were a first-generation student and are willing to participate in this research by emailing teachingandlearning@k-state.edu with your name and email address. If you responded to our June 17 K-State Today inquiry, you are already on the list to receive the survey.

The survey will help the center better assist first generation students and with the event "Teaching Success with 1st-Gen Students" from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Alumni Center Ballroom. Lee Ward, James Madison University, will be the keynote speaker and Judge Tommy Webb is the luncheon speaker.
