Scholarship, financial planning workshop for high school students, parents

Submitted by Sara Heiman

K-State's Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering is planning "Show Me the Scholarships," a financial workshop for high school students and their parents from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the K-State Student Union.

Event registration deadline is March 3. This event is hosted by the Exploring Science, Technology, and Engineering, or EXCITE!, program.

EXCITE! is designed to encourage and support students in the ninth through 12th grades to pursue a future in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and agriculture. The goal of the program is to foster girls' continuing interest in these areas, thereby enhancing the diversity and efficacy of the fields universally.

During the workshop, the participants will attend sessions facilitated by staff from K-State's Student Financial Assistance, Powercat Financial Counseling, New Student Services, Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships, and KSU Foundation. Topics include financial aid, creating a financial plan for college, how to search for scholarships, nationally competitive scholarships, and networking with scholarship donors.

Read more information about Show Me the Scholarships on the EXCITE! website's Upcoming Events page. Please contact Sara Heiman, program coordinator, sjheiman@k-state.edu, with any questions.
