Natural gas line work at Durland Hall today

Submitted by Mark D. George

A natural gas outage is scheduled for Durland Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to allow the contractor to make the final connection to a new 3-inch steel gas line being installed in the basement corridor on the south side of the building

There will be a gas odor outside of the south side of Durland Hall where the gas line connection will take place. There also will be a minor gas odor in the industrial and manufacturing systems engineering casting lab in Room 17 when the new line is charged with natural gas.

The large overhead door on the north side of the lab will be opened and fans will be used to help exhaust any odor out of the building. In addition, K-State's environmental health and safety division will conduct air quality monitoring during the operation.
