Thinking of becoming a mentor? Do you have some questions? Need that extra push to help you say "yes"? Join us today at 3 p.m. in 113 Leadership Studies for a quick 30-minute recruitment event for K-State First's Guide to Personal Success, or GPS, mentoring program.

You will have the opportunity to hear from current guides and mentees. Hear what the GPS program means to first-year students, as well as what the benefits are for you as a guide. There will be opportunities for small giveaways. If you are interested in becoming a guide and are unable to attend the event this afternoon, please email gps@k-state.edu.

GPS is K-State First's first-year mentoring program. This program matches K-State faculty/staff/graduate students/alumni with first-year K-State students. The intended purpose of a guide — mentor — is to serve as a professional point of reference throughout the student's first year at K-State. Guides do not replace academic advisors. Rather, they will share information outside of academics and class selection.

Last year we had 380 students requesting guides through GPS. We are very grateful for the 186 guides who served these students. This year we anticipate needing even more guides to help students navigate their first year on campus.

Sign up to serve as a GPS guide for the 2014-2105 academic year by completing the registration survey.
