Researchers from around the world convene at Biosecurity Research Institute for African Swine Fever Symposium

High-profile researchers from around the world are at the Biosecurity  Research Institute at Pat Roberts Hall this week for Kansas State  University's inaugural African Swine Fever Symposium.
The  participants include directors of laboratories and researchers from  Spain, Kenya, Australia, Russia, the United Kingdom and Canada.
African  Swine Fever is a tick-borne disease of pigs, but pigs can also be  infected by consuming uncooked, infected food scraps. Presentations at  the symposium touch on various aspects of African swine fever, including  biology, natural history, epidemiology, virus interactions,  diagnostics, vaccines and control strategies.
The event sponsors  include the Kansas Bioscience Authority, the National Pork Board, the  National Pork Producers Council, Harris Vaccines, Phibro, Novartis and  CEEZAD.
