Good morning, K-Staters!
We are now in Week 7 of the Fall 2023 semester, and the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) would like to remind you of our commitment to support your efforts in teaching, mentoring, and advising. We are excited to announce the various priorities, events, and resources that are designed to advance teaching and learning at K-State. This video explains what the TLC can do for you.
TLC Highlighted Teacher
This week’s Highlighted Teacher is Dr. Jung Sim Jun whose teaching philosophy is as follows: I am an associate professor of social work. I teach undergraduate students in the development of knowledge and skills related to research and evaluation, macro and global social work, and evidence-based practice. My primary goal and teaching philosophy revolve around creating effective learning environments that empower students to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills. I strongly encourage my students to take charge of their learning experiences. My teaching approach involves facilitating collaborative efforts among students in various creative projects that allow them to apply their learning. Furthermore, I serve as a research mentor to undergraduate and graduate students, supporting them in their various research projects.

Programs & Events
We look forward to another semester of our Professional Development (PD) Series, and, again, these events will occur on Wednesdays at 12 noon via Zoom. All events are free, and no registration is required. As we finalize our PD Series, we will post the schedule on the Upcoming Events page of our website and on our social media: Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
- Tomorrow (!), Wednesday, October 4th, Camilla Roberts, Director of the Honor & Integrity System, will lead a Need-To-Know professional development event titled, “Bringing Integrity Back to Basics.” Click here to view the promotional video.
- The TLC book club will read & discuss Cathy Davidson and Christina Katopodis’ The New College Classroom (2022). Join us on this Friday, October 6th from 4-5pm at Union Station by JP’s and cover Chapter 7: "Democratic and Antiracist Pedagogy.” Click here for more information, including a link to register.
- On Wednesday, October 11th, Alex Red Corn will lead a Need-To-Know professional development event on education and Indigenous communities.
- From Monday, October 16th until Wednesday, 18th, K-State Libraries and partners will be hosting the AI and the Future Symposium. These events are free to attend but registration is required. Events will include panels, lightning talks, and workshops mostly held at Hale Library. Click here to see the symposium flyer.
