History of the Lecture Series
The President's Distinguished Lecture Series, originally known as the Provost's University Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series, launched in 2007. The lecture series was originally concepted to bring scholars of high distinction to campus to share their expertise with the K-State community. The lecture series was paused in 2020 and later reimagined as the President's Distinguished Lecture Series in collaboration with the Office of the President, relaunching under the new moniker in 2024.
A core tenet of the series has always been the oversight and involvement of the University Distinguished Professors in the nomination and selection process for the series' lecturers. The committee strives to select individuals with broad appeal both within their discipline and among larger audiences, enriching our community with unique perspectives and distinguished expertise.
