Rules and Regulations

Parking Services utilizes License Plate Recognition technology. It is essential that license plates are visible when parking attendants patrol the area. All individuals parking on campus must either park head-in in their designated space or purchase a front license plate from the Parking Services Office for $6.

If you receive a citation, it must be paid within 14 days to avoid an additional late fee of $10. Please note that if you accumulate five or more citations totaling $200 or more, your vehicle may be subject to a wheel lock.

Parking in restricted areas is strictly prohibited and can result in substantial fines. The penalties are as follows: parking in a fire lane incurs a fine of $154, parking in a accessible stall results in a $193 fine, and parking in a reserved stall carries a $55 fine. Additionally, vehicles may be subject to impoundment or towing. Citations are the responsibility of the permit holder or the state registered vehicle owner. About Permits

How do I edit or add vehicles to an existing account?

Step 1: Login to the Online Parking Portal to request a parking permit or to edit or add vehicles to your permit. Login using your eID and password for students and faculty/staff. Guests may use an email and create a password to purchase visitor permits.

Step 2: Once logged in to the portal, select Vehicles from the menu at the top of your screen.

Step 3: If you wish to edit a vehicle already on your account (must have the same plate number), click on your plate number. (Skip to Step 6 if you're interested in Adding a Vehicle to your account).

Step 4: Select Edit on the Vehicle Details page.

Step 5: Use the dropdown menus to select the correct information. If your plate is no longer owned by you the select "No Longer Owned" under the plate type drop down menu. If the make or model of your vehicle is not listed, please contact Parking Services. Edit your information and click Next to save your changes.

Step 6: If you wish to add a new vehicle to your account, select Add Vehicle from the Manage Your Account Vehicles page.

Step 7: Use the dropdown menus to select the correct vehicle information. All plate types are Passenger Vehicle unless they state clearly the organization they are associated with or are owned by a government agency (school district, county). If the make or model of your vehicle is not listed, please contact Parking Services. Edit your information and click Next to save your changes.

Do I need two permits if I have two vehicles?

Every vehicle on campus must have a physical or e-permit associated with the license plate registered on an individual/group parking account. You can have multiple license plates associated with a single permit, but only one vehicle may be parked on campus at a time. You do not have to buy two permits unless you are planning to have both vehicles on campus at the same time. Motorcycles require their own permit.

After 5 p.m. and before 7 a.m. Monday thru Friday, permits are not required to park in "O, W, T, or Z" lots. Residence hall lots and Jardine lots are patrolled 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the school year, as well as fire lanes and disabled access stalls. Reserved stall signs state their hours of enforcement, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday or 24 hours. The Parking Garage is enforced 7am - midnight Monday thru Friday.

Are parking rules enforced during breaks, the summer and holidays?

Safety violations such as H/C accessible stalls and Fire lanes are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Faculty, Staff and Students are allowed to park only in the type of lot specified by their permits during the Fall and Spring semesters. Between Fall and Spring semesters and during the Summer semester, parking is allowed outside the areas specified by the permit. Reserved and restricted zones are still enforced. Parking permits are not required on University Holidays (University closed). Meters and 12 hour stalls are not enforced during University Holidays. All other regulations are enforced. What do I do if I need to load/unload material on campus?

The meter I parked at is broken, what should I do?

If the meter that you parked at is broken, you need to report it to Parking Services immediately by calling (785)532-7275. Please notify us of the meter number and location. If you have received a citation on a meter that has been reported malfunctioning and Parking Services verifies the malfunction, we will waive the citation. It must be reported to Parking Services immediately or you will be held responsible for the citation and any late changes that may be added.
