McNair Scholars Application

We are now accepting applications for 2025-26. To apply:

1. Complete and submit the TRIO McNair Online Application.
2. Complete and submit the TRIO McNair Income Verification.
   
   On the Income Verification form, you will need to report taxable income and household size for 2023 (what you reported on your FAFSA).
   Dependent students: form must be completed and signed by parent/guardian. Form link can be copied and sent to your parent/guardian.
   Independent students: complete and sign.

2025 Application Requirements

1. Complete and submit the TRIO McNair Online Application and the TRIO McNair Income Verification.
   
2. Two Faculty Reference Forms (PDF)
   • Instruct your references to complete the form and write a letter discussing your academic history and potential. You should provide your information and signature on the forms before giving them to your faculty references. It is recommended that at least one reference holds a Ph.D.
3. College Transcripts
   • Include transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended. These may be unofficial transcripts. K-State's Office of the Registrar offer's K-State transcripts.
4. Application Essay
   • Your personal essay should describe your career goals, including your proposed area of graduate study, your reasons for selecting this area, and your reasons for pursuing graduate study. See the "Application Essay" assignment description in the Canvas application site for more details.

Submitting the application

Students will submit their college transcripts and application essay to Canvas by December 1, 2025.
Applicants must request access or accept invitation to the McNair Application site to submit documents.

Faculty can email letters of reference, along with the faculty reference forms, to mcnair@ksu.edu or directly to any staff member.
