Learn about open resources during Open Education Week

Submitted by Cailin Riley

Open Education Week is a global event that seeks to raise awareness of free and open sharing in education.

Open Education Week is a global event that seeks to raise awareness of free and open sharing in education and its benefits to teachers and learners.

Open education includes free and open access to educational resources, such as videos, assessment tools, research and textbooks. A schedule of Open Education Week events can be found online.

At K-State Libraries, we’re committed to supporting open educational resources. Since 2013, K-State's Open/Alternative Textbook Initiative has saved students more than $10 million. The initiative provides instructors with grants of up to $5,000 to replace expensive, traditional textbooks with open or alternative digital resources.

Those interested in learning more about this program should contact the Center for the Advancement of Digital Scholarship at K-State Libraries at cads@k-state.edu.
