Prioritize your well-being with free Noontime Yoga

Submitted by Kathryn Harth

Start this academic year focused on your mental and physical well-being. Just 45-minutes on a yoga mat can teach you to use your body to quiet your mind.

Noontime Yoga is for all levels and abilities and is free to attend. The volunteer-based program provides an outlet for students, staff, faculty and community members to practice yoga together in a friendly, noncompetitive environment.

The group will meet throughout the fall semester from 12:05-12:50 p.m. Monday through Friday in 301 Ahearn Field House. View the schedule for the fall semester.

The group's yoga leaders are volunteers from K-State and the community. We will continue to follow K-State COVID-19 guidelines. Currently, K-State does not require masks; however, the volunteer instructor on Wednesdays will require all participants to wear a mask.

To get to the studio, enter Ahearn Field House from College Heights Road using the entrance with the word "Gymnasium" over the doors. There is a stairwell immediately to your left; take the stairs all the way up to the third floor. We'll be in the studio on your left.

All are welcome and there are no requirements to attend — we even have mats you can borrow if you don't have one or forgot yours. Show up when you can, even if you have to be a little late or need to leave a little early.

Yoga not only improves strength, balance and flexibility, but it can also help manage stress, increase energy and lead to better sleep. The Noontime Yoga community has been going strong for more than 20 years and gives K-Staters a midday break from the stresses of class and work.

To stay up to date about schedules, cancellations and upcoming events, join the K-State Noontime Yoga Facebook Group and/or sign up for the Noontime Yoga Listserv.

Noontime Yoga is sponsored by Nonviolence Studies and Programs and UFM Community Learning Center.
