We hope all are returning to campus safe and healthy. As the spring 2022 semester is getting started, the College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office and Assistant Dean and Director Zelia Wiley welcome back Lonnie Hobbs, Jr., Raymond Thomas, Sydney Besa, Zenzele Asante, Sarah Weekes, Selena Gilyot and Sanders Barbee to the office.

The office congratulates and welcomes Summer Santillana as Diversity Programs Office coordinator. Santillana graduated in December from the College of Agriculture with a degree in agricultural economics. We are excited for her to share her talents with us in this role.

Please mark your calendars and join the Diversity Programs Office and the K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences chapter for our events this semester.

  • Jan. 22-28 is the K-State's Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Week. Please join us in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. The Diversity Programs Office is excited to support HandsOn K-State, the Kansas Volunteer Commission, K-State Staley School of Leadership Studies and the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies to kick off the week’s events with the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of service on Saturday, Jan. 22. If you or your organization would like to participate, please visit their website.
  • The office and K-State MANRRS will also be hosting our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Student Leader Reception from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, via Zoom. Join us for a discussion surrounding the civil rights movement, current diversity issues and the importance of King’s dream with speaker Dave Baker, K-State alumnus, Frederick Douglass Center director and former K-State baseball player and coach.

Your continued participation in our events is appreciated. Please watch for more diversity news and events or visit our social media pages to stay updated on our current events. For additional information about these events or to collaborate with the Diversity Programs Office, please contact Wiley or call 785-532-5793.
