Thursday Teaching Tip: Accessible documents

Submitted by Ashley Nietfeld

The K-State Global Campus instructional designer brings you Thursday Teaching Tips through K-State Today. These tips will cover Canvas, best practices in teaching online or new topics as the community begins to discuss them.

Today's Thursday Teaching Tip provides guidance for creating accessible PDF and Word documents. K-State's Student Access Center provides the following information about accessible PDF and Word documents.

To create searchable PDF documents, it is recommended that you use Read&Write, a software program available to all students, faculty and staff with an eID and password. Read&Write can be used to create searchable PDF documents that allow users to listen to the text using assistive technology.

Please contact gcid@k-state.edu with comments, to schedule a consultation or to share ideas for future tips. Thank you for your interest in improving the quality of teaching at K-State.
