Poet Romeo Oriogun to read from his work via Zoom on Wednesday, April 21, 3:30 p.m.

Romeo Oriogun

On Wednesday, April 21, poet Romeo Oriogun will read from his work at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Registration is free but required at tinyurl.com/romeokstate.

Oriogun is the author of "The Origin of Butterflies," 2019, selected by Kwame Dawes and Chris Abani for the APBF New-Generation African Poets Chapbook Series, and "Sacrament of Bodies," University of Nebraska Press, 2020.

Oriogun has received fellowships and support from Ebedi International Writers Residency, Harvard University, Hutchins Center for African and African American Research, Oregon Institute for Creative Research, and the IIE-Artist Protection Fund. In 2017, he was the winner of the Brunel International African Poetry Prize.

He lives in Iowa City where he attends the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

Oriogun's reading is sponsored by the Student Association of Graduates in English and the Society of Cultural Studies, two student organizations sponsored by the English department in College of Arts and Sciences.
