Reminder regarding control of animals on university property

Submitted by Human Capital Services

Human Capital Services reminds all employees of the university's policy regarding control of animals on campus, found in PPM 7840.100. The policy states, in part:

"Animals are not permitted in any buildings with the exception of service animals, animals under care and treatment in the College of Veterinary Medicine, research animals housed in University buildings or animals used as part of an academic program. Service animals are defined as a dog or miniature horse (in certain circumstances) individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability."

Service animals are welcome in all buildings on campus and may attend any class, meeting or other event. Except for the circumstances outlined in PPM 7840.100, employees are not permitted to have animals at work.

Employees who have questions about this policy should contact Human Capital Services at 785-532-6277.
