24-Month Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) OPT Extension

As of August 1, 2026 a processing fee will be implemented as a requirement when applying for Optional Practical Training (OPT) and the STEM OPT Extension. All students applying on and after that date will be required to pay the fee and submit their receipt along with the other required application materials.

STEM OPT Tutorial

Students in F-1 status that are in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field that are currently on Post-Completion OPT and have are employed by a qualified, E-Verify employer, may be eligible for an extension.
