Emotional

Emotional wellness involves awareness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is the ability to connect these individual feelings and behaviors to your outlook on life. It is practiced through attentiveness to both positive and negative feelings and how you react to situations with a focus on improving the situation in the future.

Environmental

Environmental wellness encourages the connection between our actions and the health of the environment in which we work, live, and play. Individuals can practice environmental wellness by being attentive to their actions, and by making small (and big!) changes to positively impact the world around them.

Financial

Financial wellness involves your daily financial actions as well as your short and long term plans. It can be practiced through education, budgeting, and financial planning.

Financial Wellness Workshops

Financial wellness workshops are offered on campus each semester. Employees are encouraged to bring their spouses or financial support person to learn valuable tools to assist with their financial well-being. Each workshop is focused on specific life-stages.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program has financial experts on hand to assist employees with a wide variety of topics. Call 1-800-275-1205 (option 7) or TDD 800-697-0353 to be connected with an expert to assist with financial questions and concerns. Some topics may include:

Planning for Retirement

Contact our retirement plan companies for one on one retirement plan counseling. The Kansas Board of Regents provides a listing of all voluntary retirement plan companies that will assist with your investment and planning for retirement.

Join Human Resources in exploring learning tips, techniques and information focused on your personal wellness. These are scheduled throughout the year and are free to employees. This listing will be updated as they are scheduled.

Intellectual

Intellectual wellness is the ability to open our minds to new concepts, ideas, perspectives and cultures. This can be practiced through the continuation of learning and focus on broadening and deepening your knowledge about the world.

Occupational

Occupational wellness is the ability to get fulfillment from your jobs or career and maintaining balance in your personal life. This can be practiced through day-to-day work and focusing on talents within your personal and work life.

Physical

Physical wellness includes how we treat our bodies. The food you eat, your daily exercise, and your health habits all contribute to your physical wellness status. Progress in physical wellness can be addressed by exercising, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and practicing meditation.

Ways to Get Moving in the Little Apple

The Department of Kinesiology at Kansas State University has provided a comprehensive resource full of opportunities to increase your physical activity. The Little Apple's Guide to Physical Activity has information on the current physical activity recommendations, why physical activity is necessary for a healthy lifestyle, and many different ideas to add more movement to your day. Recreational Services

As an employee of Kansas State University, you are eligible to purchase membership to the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex and the Ahearn Natatorium. This also extends to your spouse and family! The Rec boasts modern equipment in a clean environment with exceptional staff to assist you as you pursue your goals. Whether you are in need of someone to teach you how to use the equipment, looking for a group fitness class, or curious about getting a personal trainer, the Rec has you covered. Prefer more of an outdoor approach to fitness? You can actually rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, and everything else you might need to go camping for a weekend or even just paddling for a day.

Social

Social wellness is your ability to positively interact with those around you. It can be practiced through positive connections, respect of yourself and others, and creating meaningful relationships.

Spiritual

Spiritual wellness is the values and beliefs that drive purpose in our lives. This can be practiced through looking at your personal values and how they align with your feelings on the meaning of life.
