Taiwan Study Abroad Scholarship

The Taiwan Study Abroad Scholarship has been established with the goal of providing graduate students and undergraduates enrolled in a concurrent bachelor’s/master’s degree the opportunity to experience the Taiwanese culture while studying or traveling for an educational experience to Taiwan. Scholarships will be awarded to support one of the following educational experiences: study abroad for a minimum of one semester, participation in a faculty-led study abroad trip that includes cultural experiences, or presentation of scholarly research at an international professional meeting in Taiwan or an invited exhibition of scholarly work.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for consideration, the student shall be:

  • Graduate student enrolled in any curriculum or undergraduate student concurrent earning their bachelor’s and master’s degree.
  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in the College of Business, Economics, Political Science, History, Art, Hospitality Management, Modern Languages, Sociology, Anthropology, and Mass Communication. However, students enrolled in other graduate programs are encouraged to apply.

Award amount

The scholarship award varies based on the length of the study abroad experience. A minimum of $2500.00 will be awarded to applicants who plan to study a minimum of one semester at a university in Taiwan. A minimum of $500 will be awarded to applicants participating in a faculty led study or presenting or exhibiting scholarly research in Taiwan.


Application deadlines

  • August 1 for travel in the fall semester
  • March 15 for travel in the spring semester

Recipients will be selected by a committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate School.

Scholarships shall be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or disability, or financial aid, or other awards, The only exception as specified in the Memorandum of Understanding with the donor is that the scholarship cannot be awarded for the purpose of a student traveling to his/her native land as the intent is for K-State students to have a cultural and educational experience in Taiwan.

Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a summary of their experiences including a description of the cultural experiences the student engaged while in Taiwan and how the experience has and will benefit them personally and professionally.
