Nelsy Osorio

Congratulations to Nelsy for publishing her manuscript in the prestigious Journal of Geophysical Research (JGR). Article Summary:

Modeling Geomechanical properties of rocks has broad applications to subsurface energy storage. In a study by Osorio and her co-workers, a new theoretical model combining percolation theory and effective-medium approximation was developed to predict elastic properties of porous materials. Using different types of porous media, Osorio et al. (2025) showed that the model predicted Young’s and bulk moduli from first principles accurately. A link to the full article can be found here.
