2020 Part-Time Opportunities Fair

The K-State Career Center invites students to participate in the Part-Time Opportunities Fair. The fair will be hosted online during the first week of classes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, via Handshake.

To participate in the fair, students need to log into their Handshake account, find the fair under the “Events” tab and complete student registration. Once students register, they’ll be able to sign up for one-on-one sessions with employers or sign up for a 30-minute group session. Employers will have the option to use video, audio and text-based chat for these sessions. Students who have signed up for a session will be able to launch video once the session has started. Prior to signing up for sessions, students are able to browse and research employers who have registered.

“The Part-Time Opportunities Fair is a great way for students to connect with employers and learn about different part-time jobs on campus or in the community – even remote jobs. We’re excited to be hosting it virtually through Handshake, and it will be a great way for employers, students and staff to become familiar with the platform as we prepare for our bigger All-University Career Fair in September,” said Val Rubio, employer relations associate for the Career Center and coordinator of the event.

To prepare for the fair, students should test out their audio and video technology, complete their Handshake profile and upload a resume to their Handshake profile. Students have access to many tools on the Career Center’s website and should make a scheduled appointment with their career advisor or stop by virtual drop-in advising if they need support finding a part-time job.
