Academic Advising

Students will meet virtually with their academic advisor to enroll in course work prior to their orientation day. This appointment will provide students a one on one setting to connect with their advisor, understand how they will support you throughout your time at K-State, ask questions, and enroll in your first semester of classes.

Scheduling your Advising Appointment

Advising appointments will be hosted virtually and last between 45 minutes to one hour. After registering for New Student Orientation, your advisor will connect with you via your K-State email. Advisors will begin reaching out in April to schedule virtual appointments. Students will receive instructions on how to view all available appointment times. You will be able to select a specific time that works best for your schedule.

You will schedule your advising appointment via Navigate, a tool that provides consistent and coordinated care for students. We encourage students to download the Navigate Student app and set up notifications so you can easily connect with your advisor.

What to Expect

Advising appointments are between the student and an advisor. If family members have questions, we can address them in the for last 10 minutes of the appointment.

After selecting an appointment time, join the virtual appointment to discuss your upcoming semester, personal and professional goals, questions you have, and enroll in courses. This is a time for you and your advisor to get to know each other and understand how you can use them as a resource in the future.

Please note, students will need to connect to their virtual appointment with a laptop or a desktop computer. A phone or tablet will not suffice as you will be using the desktop version of the enrollment system to build your class schedule.
