Master of industrial design

Design professionals solve complex, challenging problems with the intention of making a difference in the physical environment. The College of Architecture, Planning and Design’s experience is enriched by having the design and planning professionals in one college. Our accredited programs have superior depth, quality and range.

What courses will I take?

The five-year Master of Industrial Design is a hands-on degree where students are given a balance of design theory, the hard science of manufacturing and the art of craft. Students will focus on

  • ergonomics,
  • human factors,
  • manufacturing processes,
  • product semantics and
  • design theory.
