Parents and Family Fund

The K-State Parents and Family Program (PFP) is funded solely by generous donations. In addition to providing programs and services for parents and families, the PFP supports specific student-centered initiatives.

Funding priorities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fostering Success Initiative provides "welcome to college" giftcards to students who were formerly involved with Foster Care.
  • Little Budget Big Bounty is a collaboration between PFP, Manhattan Big Brothers Big Sisters, and HyVee, allowing bigs and littles to shop for items on the Cats' Cupboard wishlist.
  • Give Back - Cats' Cupboard and Career Closet is an initiative that aims to fill the needs of the Cats' Cupboard and Career Closet resources on campus. Donations can be made via credit card or by Amazon wish list.
  • In 2019, PFP allocated funds to Lafene Health Center for COVID-19 Vaccine Incentives to reward students who got their COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Student Scholarships, which can benefit the nearly 70% of K-State students who receive some sort of financial aid. PFP supports scholarships for undergraduate students, enabling awardees to remain in school, recognize academic achievement, and promote diversity in the student body.
  • Student Employee of the Year Ceremony, an annual celebration that takes place during National Student Employment Week. PFP provides a sponsorship for the ceremony, so that K-State can recognize the importance of the student work experience and the invaluable services student workers provide.
  • National First-Generation Celebration Week, hosted by the First-Generation Student Center, aims to celebration and support first-generation students on campus.
  • Family Day - K-State Legacy Programs and K-State Family Tailgate has been a K-State tradition for over 90 years! PFP hosts the annual K-State Legacy Pinning Ceremony and Brunch, and the K-State Family Tailgate, bold held each fall in conjuction with Family Day.
    • The Legacy Pinning Ceremony recognizes the commitment of K-Staters across generations including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings. The ceremony also honors those who are the first in their family to attend K-State.
    • The K-State Family Tailgate event begins two hours prior to kick-off of the K-State Football game and features great food, raffle prizes, a fun-filled tailgating experience and more!
  • PFP sponsors the International Student and Scholar Services Tailgate in the Fall. Students and their families enjoy a catered meal and attend a K-State football game.

Fundraisers

PFP hosts different fundraisers throughout the year to engage the K-State community. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser, please call the PFP hotline at 785-532-2222. Signature fundraisers include:

  • Giving Tuesday, held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, with the goal of benefiting a campus resource.
  • Family Day Fill-Anthropy, hosted during the annual Family Weekend, aims to fill Cats' Cupboard and the Career Closet.
  • Love a Wildcat and Frats for Cats are events during which sororities and fraternities compete to raise the highest dollar amount for the PFP fund. They compete for the titles of K-State Parents and Family Program Sorority/Fraternity of the Year.
  • Home Away from Homecoming is hosted during the week of homecoming, with residence halls competing to be named the K-State PFP Hall of the Year. Funds raised support Academic Success and Student Affairs resources.

Your generous gift to PFP supports programs at K-State that enhance the student experience in all aspects--academic, social, and professional development. Your gift is an investment in the future of K-State. Thank you!
