Preparing for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT)
Who should take the LSAT?
Students who plan to attend law school should take the Law School Admissions Test (“LSAT”). The Law School Admission Counsel (“LSAC”) administers this standardized test which is designed specifically for law school admission & accepted by all ABA-accredited law schools.
What is on the LSAT?
The LSAT is composed of 4 different multiple-choice test sections and an unscored argumentative writing sample. There are 2 sections in Logical Reasoning, 1 in Reading Comprehension, and 1 unscored experimental section. The argumentative writing section is taken separately from the multiple-choice portion of the test and is available 8 days prior to the test administration. More detailed information is available using the following link: https://www.lsac.org/lsat/prepare/types-lsat-questions.
Where do I take the LSAT?
The LSAT is taken online either in a live remote-proctored environment or in person at a digital testing center.
When can I take the LSAT?
The LSAT is administered in January, February, April, June, August, September, October & November and students typically take the exam more than once. Strategically schedule your test dates because your LSAT score release date often occurs AFTER the next exam’s registration deadline. The exact test dates can be found: https://www.lsac.org/LSATdates.
Why is the LSAT exam important?
Your LSAT score is widely considered to be one of the most important pieces of your law school application and has a major impact on both offers of admission and scholarships.
