Susan Allen has been with the Women's Center since 1993, serving as assistant director and editor of the newsletter, Women's  Circle, before being appointed to the director's position in 1998. She holds a doctorate in media anthropology from the University  of Kansas (1980) and published the first textbook in the new field combining anthropology and journalism (Media Anthropology: Informing Global Citizens, Bergin & Garvey) in 1994.
