K-State Alerts test Oct. 11

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

The university will test the K-State Alerts system at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11.

The test will include emails, text messages for those who have opted in, automated phone calls, push notifications through the Rave Guardian mobile app and messages on university websites and digital signs, Alertus beacons, Facebook and Twitter. Following the test, a survey will be distributed to K-State Alerts users via email to evaluate its effectiveness.

It is important to your safety to understand K-State Alerts and how to modify your settings.

The K-State Alerts system is used to announce campus emergencies and closures. Each message will start with "Urgent K-State Alert" followed by important information. Messages are delivered through multiple methods, including email, text, phone calls, social media and web postings, the Rave Guardian app and emergency beacons in buildings.

Please take time now to review your account settings in K-State Connect to ensure you receive the emergency notifications as quickly as possible. You can add up to three phone numbers and three email addresses to your account. This is a good way to include family members in notifications if desired.

Read the K-State Alerts FAQ page for more information.
