Submitted by Shelly Broccolo

The Honorable Alan Simpson, former United States Senator from Wyoming, will give the 159th Landon Lecture at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in McCain Auditorium

We hope you will be able to attend.

Simpson was elected in 1964 to the Wyoming House of Representatives, where he served for 13 years. A popular and effective legislator, he became majority whip, majority floor leader and speaker pro tempore before running successfully for the U.S. Senate in 1978. After many years in the U.S. Senate, he was elected by his Republican peers to the position of the assistant majority leader. He served as assistant leader for 10 years, four years into his third Senate term. Simpson was appointed in 2010 to co-chair President Barack Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform with co-chair Erskine Bowles.
