The curriculum prepares professionals to strengthen zoonoses prevention and control programs, investigate emerging infectious diseases, enhance the public’s ability to respond to bioterrorism and biosecurity emergencies, and coordinate rapid response activities among government, agriculture industries, nonprofit organizations, and academia.
Note: All students admitted Fall 2012 and beyond MUST follow the course list below.
“Core” requirements (14 or 16 credit hours)
Each student in the MPH Program must complete these required public health core courses:
- Biostatistics: MPH 701 Fundamental Methods of Biostatistics (3 hrs)
- Environmental health sciences: MPH 806 Environmental Toxicology (2 hrs)
- Epidemiology: 2 options:
- MPH 754 Introduction to Epidemiology (3 hrs) OR
- MPH 708 Veterinary Epidemiology (2 hrs) and MPH 854 Intermediate Epidemiology (3 hrs) (TOTAL of 5 credit hours)
- Health services administration:MPH 720 Administration of Health Care Organizations (3 hrs)
- Social and behavioral sciences: MPH 818 Social and Behavioral Bases of Public Health (3 hrs)
