This course will examine how the medium of film creates a psychological reality through the stories it tells. Some specific topics to be studied include cognitive processing of film content, use of film technique to communicate psychological concepts, development of characters in film, the role of film in group stereotyping, and film portrayals of mental illness, gender roles, and romance.
