Day 1

8:00-9:00        NSF proposals, differences between proposals--CAREER, unsolicited, IGERT, MRI, solicitations, etc. (Dr. Ken Chong)

 

9:00-9:15        Break

 

9:15-11:15      General how-to talk (Dr. George Hazelrigg)

 

11:15-11:30     Break

 

11:30-12:00     Questions and Answers

 

12:00-13:00     Lunch with Program Directors

 

13:00-15:30    Panel preparations, conflict briefing, mock panels (about four weeks prior to the workshop, about 5 proposals will be sent to attendees)

 

15:30-15:45    Break

 

15:45-16:00    Reporting panel review results – proposal

                        rankings

 

16:00-17:15    Two recent awardees share their stories

                        (possibly with dissection of a proposal)

 

17:15-17:30     Break

 

17:30-18:00    Go-around to share what has been learned

 

18:00-19:30    Dinner

 

19:30-20:30    Homework assignment -- attendees rewrite their proposal summaries based on what they learned during the day

 

 

Day 2

 

7:30-8:00        Breakfast

 

8:00-10:00      Summaries are distributed to attendees. Attendees write written reviews of the summaries

 

10:00-10:30    Break

 

10:30-12:00    Panels discuss summaries and write panel

                        summaries for the summaries

 

12:00-13:00     Lunch

 

13:00-14:30    Continue discussion of summaries

 

15:00               Adjourn
