Kansas Legislature week seven update

Last week in the Kansas Legislature, the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee heard a report on Monday, Feb. 13, from Christopher Redmond, Kansas State University assistant agronomist and network manager of Kansas Mesonet in the department of agronomy.

On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources was briefed on the Kansas Healthy Food Initiative by Rial Carver, program leader for K-State's Rural Grocery Initiative, and Erica Blair, program manager for K-State's Rural Grocery Initiative and Kansas Healthy Food Initiative.

K-State President Richard Linton presented testimony on Thursday, Feb. 16, before the Senate Ways and Means Higher Education Subcommittee and the House Higher Education Budget Committee.

This week the Senate Ways and Means Subcommittee on Higher Education will make recommendations on postsecondary education at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20. The recommendations will be presented to the Senate Ways and Means Committee for consideration on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Also this week, Friday, Feb. 24, is Turnaround Day. This is the last day to consider non-exempt bills in the house of origin.

The Legislature will not meet Feb. 24-28. The Legislature will return on Wednesday, March 1.
