Volunteers needed for blood vessel research

Submitted by Steve Hammond

The clinical research team of Carl Ade, associate professor of kinesiology, is currently recruiting participants for a study investigating the health of blood vessels. Qualified participants fit within one of the following two groups:

1. Control cohort: Are between the ages of 55-65 and have never been diagnosed with any form of cancer.

2. Patient cohort: Are over the age of 21, have been recently diagnosed with cancer, and are currently recieving 5-Fluorouracil chemotherapy.

Volunteers will be asked to attend one 90-minute visit on the third floor of Lafene Health Center. Noninvasive measurements of the blood vessels in the skin will be collected under resting conditions. By participating in this study, you will help researchers determine overall blood vessel function and the state of blood vessel health in patients treated with 5-Fluorouracil chemotherapy.

This study has been reviewed by the Institutional Review Board and received approval No. 11090.
