Adrianna Gordey

Adrianna Gordey is the new academic development coordinator for the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, or McNair Scholars Program.

Gordey began April 18 and is responsible for coordinating appropriate academic support services for accepted McNair Scholars, especially providing writing instruction to help students improve their abilities to communicate research and their achievements.

Gordey has more than five years of experience supporting student success and is a McNair Scholars Program alumnus who can personally relate to the experiences of McNair Scholars. Before joining the team, she worked as a resident assistant and as a graduate teaching assistant in the English department. In this past work, she helped students navigate university resources and address barriers to their personal and academic successes. She has experience teaching Expository Writing 100 and English 220 classes and tutoring undergraduate and graduate students in the Writing Center.

Gordey earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Leadership Studies and a Master of Arts in English with an emphasis in creative writing at K-State.

The McNair Scholars Program is a program in the Office of Student Success and is structured to prepare undergraduates for successful acceptance to and completion of graduate school. Eligible scholars are first-generation, low-income students and students from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The program aims to see these students move into careers as professors and professional researchers.
