National media law and ethics journal now published at K-State's A.Q. Miller School
The Journal of Media Law & Ethics, ISSN 1940-9389, is one of the leading peer-reviewed journals in the field and is now published by the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas State University. Nikhil Moro, associate professor and former school director, serves as the journal's editor. Ian Punnett, professor of practice and chief operator of K-State radio station KSDB-FM, is a member of the journal's editorial advisory board.
The journal is an online, peer-reviewed journal exploring current legal and ethical issues facing the media, including defamation, privacy, copyright, censorship, licensing, reporters' privilege, news accuracy, bias and media literacy. After its launch in 2009 as a journal of Marquette Books, the journal was published by the University of Baltimore School of Law beginning in spring 2012 under the continuing editorship of founding editor Eric B. Easton, professor emeritus of law at Baltimore, who has now joined its editorial board. The journal is served by an outstanding editorial board of 26 nationally eminent scholars in law and ethics.
"We are pleased to bring this journal to K-State," said Steven Smethers, director of the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications. "Dr. Moro has been a longtime scholar in this area and it will be a mark of distinction to house the journal in the A.Q. Miller School."
Published quarterly or occasionally, the Journal of Media Law & Ethics seeks theoretical and analytical manuscripts that advance the understanding of media law and ethics in society. Submissions may have a legal, historical or social science orientation, but must focus on media law or ethics. All theoretical perspectives are welcome. All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review. Access to JMLE is available to the public at no charge. Ideal manuscripts are 6,000-8,000 words in length, including footnotes, tables and figures, with footnotes in the Bluebook style.
Inquiries and manuscripts may be directed to Moro at email@example.com.
