Student Senate weekly update

Submitted by Blake Phillips

Hello, Wildcats!

Student Senate met on Thursday, Feb. 3, for the second time this semester. At the meeting, Student Senate voted on several pieces of legislation. The senate voted to approve commendations to the guests and planners of KSUnite, and to the state of Kansas in honor of Kansas Day. Additionally, the senate voted to approve a travel allocation to the Student Finance Association, amendments to the K-State Student Governing Association governing documents regarding independent positions in SGA, and decreases to the Lafene and CAPS student services fee budgets. Finally, the senate voted to postpone voting on amendments to the Student Centered Tuition Enhancements Committee until next week.

After voting concluded, the senate introduced legislation to change the current structure of SGA committees, legislation to amend elections regulations regarding tabling, and legislation to amend the sexual assault prevention report from the Special Committee on Strategic Oversight.

Student Senate will reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. All are welcome to attend in person or can watch live on YouTube at the K-State SGA YouTube channel.
