Updates to COVID-19 vaccination guidance

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

Last week a special session of the Kansas Legislature passed HB 2001, which further defines how we treat exemptions to President Biden’s executive order as a federal contractor. As a result of this law, the university has updated its religious exemption form.

Individuals who have previously submitted a religious exemption form do not need to resubmit the form. The new law specifically requires the employer to “grant an exemption requested . . . based on sincerely held religious beliefs without inquiring into the sincerity of the request.”

Based on recent guidance from the federal government and the Kansas attorney general, university deadlines for being fully vaccinated or applying for exemptions have been extended to Jan. 18, 2022. The COVID-19 website has been updated to reflect the latest guidance.
