Student Senate weekly update

Submitted by Blake Phillips

Welcome back, Wildcats!

I hope you all had a great break last week. Student Senate met on Thursday, Nov. 18. During the meeting, Student Senate passed and introduced many pieces of legislation.

The senate approved three new senators for the 2021-2022 term. Additionally, the senate approved allocations to the American Choral Directors Association, the Hispanic American Leadership Organization and the On the Spot Improv club. The senate also voted to approve amendments to reapportionment of Student Senate seats, amendments to the duties of the speaker of the Student Senate, and the creation of the Special Committee on Strategic Oversight.

After voting concluded, allocations to Bridges International, the George Wright Society Tallgrass Chapter, the National Society of Black Engineers and Pre-Dental Club were introduced. Legislation also was introduced regarding speaking rights in the senate, a continuance of the KSDB Reserve Student Services Fee allocation, and a decrease of the KSDB Operations Student Services Fee allocation.

Student Senate will reconvene for the final time this semester at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. All are welcome to attend in person or can watch live on YouTube at the K-State SGA YouTube channel.
